This five day online summer course is created specifically for Irish primary school teachers. It provides a clear, structured understanding of dyslexia and practical strategies that can be applied directly in school settings.

Day 1: Understanding dyslexia

Participants develop a clear understanding of what dyslexia is and what it is not. The focus is on early identification, common misconceptions, and the role of the teacher in supporting learners effectively. Teachers leave with a strong foundation and a practical action plan for inclusive classroom practice.

Day 2: Inclusive and structured literacy approaches

This day focuses on creating inclusive classrooms through multi sensory teaching. Participants explore structured literacy approaches and gain confidence in using assistive technologies to support dyslexic learners.

Day 3: Learning through play and engagement

Participants learn how to create inclusive, engaging, and enjoyable learning environments. The importance of play in learning is explored, and teachers create a practical resource they can use immediately in their classroom.

Day 4: Confidence, mindset, and emotional wellbeing

This day focuses on building confidence, resilience, and a growth mindset in learners with dyslexia. Teachers gain practical tools to help students recognise their strengths and feel empowered in their learning.

Day 5: Collaboration and intervention

Participants learn how to work collaboratively with parents, SENCOs, and external professionals. The day also introduces basic assessment, structured intervention, and planning support at whole school level.

Community and ongoing support

All participants gain access to the Community, a dedicated space to connect with fellow teachers, share practice, ask questions, and continue learning beyond the course.
